The Saviour Institute for Learning Women Empowerment project goal is to transform the lives of Zanzibar women through education, economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. The project tackles gender inequality and improves the quality of life for women by fostering economic independence and self-sufficiency.

We provide training in skills that result in being able to earn an independent living. Classes in tailoring, make-up and henna paint provide them with professional level skills to be hired by clients or even to start their own business.

Many women remain oppressed by men and society. They are frequent victims of gender discrimination, domestic violence, and sexual harassment. Our program empowers them with support and guidance toward an independent future.

The Women Empowerment project helps women to become economically self sufficient, providing them with support to learn new vocational skills, develop business ideas, and join a community of supportive women.

Women Empowerment Program Volunteers Needed

Daily Guidance

You will have a program coordinator at the program site to assist and guide you at all times.

Volunteer Activities

Volunteers help improve work skills of the women such as sewing, make-up, and henna. Support is always needed to help them gain confidence.

Volunteers can teach how to market products and services and gain more visibility. Help in marketing can be digital or through traditional means.

You will work alongside and under the leadership of our program staff . We will provide a schedule and activities, but we welcome new ideas as well.

The experience you will get from giving up your time and care for others, will be like no other. Through every day activities and connections, you will make a huge difference in the lives of the women as well as the entire community.

Volunteer Role:

Volunteering your time and effort to women empowerment programs will support women who have been born with limited rights and opportunities . Empower those that have been suppressed to change the direction of their futures.

Volunteering your time and committing to helping these women will make a significant difference in their development. As a volunteer, you will connect with the local women on a profound level and help them with finding sustainable solutions for their challenges.

You will contribute to social change in which women have equal rights and are able to access education, healthcare and employment opportunities.

You will also learn from a cross-cultural exchange, as you and your host community gain understanding and perspectives from each other.
